Office for Employment Relations Print

In addition to the work undertaken by the ACCER the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has developed The Office for Employment Relations.  The OER is mandated to provide ACBC agencies and other Church employers with the operational employment relations advice formerly provided by the ACCER.  The OER and ACCER continue to work closely together to provide information on work and the employment relationship. 2009 AFPC Wages Decision Print

The 2009 Wages Decision of the Australian Fair Pay Commission has again failed the increasing number of low income Australian Workers who depend on the safety net.  The Minimum Wage will remain unchanged at $543.78 and no increase will be made to the Australian Pay and Classification Scales.

2009 AFPC Minimum Wage Review Print

The Australian Catholic Council for Employment Relations has filed an outline of submissions to the 2009 Australian Fair Pay Commission Minimum Wage Review. ACCER continues to advocate for a fair and just wage for the low paid.

 

 
2008 AFPC Wages Decision Print

The Australian Fair Pay Commission today handed down the decision in the 2008 Wages Review. The decision is to take effect from the first pay period on or after 1 October 2008. The General Wage-Setting Decision 2008 has two main elements:

  • an increase of $21.66 per week ($0.57 per hour) to the standard Federal Minimum Wage (FMW) bringing the weekly rate to $543.78. The standard FMW increases from $13.74 to $14.31 per hour; and
  • an increase of approximately $21.66 per week ($0.57 per hour) for adult rates of pay in Australian Pay and Classification Scales (Pay Scales).

National Employment Standards Print

June 2008

The Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard has announced the final National Employment Standards which will become effective from 1 January 2010. A revised request has also been issued to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission in relation to the Award Modernisation process providing guidance on how the NES and modern awards are to interact. Importantly, the Australian Industrial Relations Commission has been directed to establish an award for non managerial employees who are currently award free, but perform similar work to award covered employees.
